inThe city of Jaipur itself is a riot of color, pomp and pageantry. To a lifestyle that is a fanfare of festivities and celebrations.
Jaipur is a magical city that encloses within its walls all the color and charm of the exotic and romantic land of Rajasthan. The city still retains its old world glory and charm and it is in the backdrop of such a stupendous city that the all important Kite Festival is held.
Kite festival is celebrated every year on January 14 on the day of “Makar Sakranti “.On this day kites are flown in the sky at Jaipur. During this time city markets are flooded with shops selling Kites, manjha, sadhaa & charkhi.
All the people are on their roof tops enjoying the warmth of the winter sun and flying kites. The kites are of many designs and the fun part is that you try to cut each other’s kite and shout on top of your voice” I cut that kite” or “Who Kaatte”!!
But wait, when you cut the kite the others run around to grab the cut kite and fly it. You can see people of all ages on the roof tops with their heads turned into the sky. In Jaipur kites virtually blot out the sky. Everyone joins in this riotous celebration.
As you’ve probably guessed, this is one day when the skies above the city come alive with kites – in a hundred different colours, shapes and sizes, fluttering and darting above the rooftops, triumphantly cutting another kite’s string, and soaring way up above the earth.
There is no celebration considered complete unless and until rich food is served among friends, family and relatives. The festival of Makar Sankranti is also not different from the other Indian festivals. Lots of cooking takes place on this day as well. Tik ke laddoo, rewedi, dal ki pakodi are few to name.
The fun of Kite flying is enjoyed for over a week in Jaipur.
Royal Heritage Haveli is waiting to welcome you all for Kite Flying with some delicious food & warm hospitality.

Situated in the capital of Rajasthan, the City Palace of Jaipur or the chief palace is a titillating fusion of conventional Rajasthan and Mughal architecture. The gigantic palace complex engages one seventh of the walled city of Jaipur. The complex is divided into a series of courtyards, sprawling gardens and buildings. The beautifully caved marble interiors, magnificent pillars, jali or lattice work and inlaid ornamentations make the palace a cherished tourist attraction. Jaleb Chowk and Tripolia Gate are the two main entrances to the City Palace Jaipur. The complex houses a number of palatial structures, most notable ones being the Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Badal Mahal, Shri Govind Dev ji Temple and the City Palace Museum.
Mubarak Mahal
In the first courtyard is the ‘Mubarak Mahal’, built by Maharaja Madho Singh II in the late 19th century. The Mubarak Mahal, contains the textile section of the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum. There is a magnificent gateway with a grand door in brass opening to a stately courtyard. There lies the Diwan-I-Khas or ‘Hall of Private Audience’- an open hall with a double row of columns with scalloped arches.
Diwan-e-Khas and Diwan-e-Aam
The magnificent brass gateway of the Mubarak Mahal leads to a courtyard where one can find the Diwan-I-Khas or ‘Hall of Private Audience’. Here two enormous silver vessels catch the eye. These are the largest vessels known in the world. They are also recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records Next comes the ‘Diwan-E-Aam’ or the ‘Hall of Public Audience’. Done up in a rich red and gold, this chamber holds on display a variety of embroidered rugs and carpets, miniature paintings and ancient texts. The Ridhi Sidhi Pol is the name given to the four small gates adorned with themes representing the four seasons.
Chandra Niwas
The Chandra Niwas, standing to the west is an imposing palace and various parts of this seven-storied building are called Sukh-Niwas, Ranga-Mandir, Pitam-Niwas, Chabi-Niwas, Shri-Niwas and Mukut-Mandir.
Govind Devji Temple
Opposite the Chandra Niwas stands the Badal Niwas and in between lies the Jai Niwas Garden. The Govind Devji temple stands in this garden. Govind Dev ji is one of the prominent temples of Rajasthan and situated in Jaipur, it is visited by many people annually. Dedicated to Lord Krishna and has been well preserved by the earlier royal family. The idol was brought from Vrindavan, installed here by Sawai Jai Singh. Govind Dev ji is an incarnation of Lord Krishna.
Another integral part of the palace complex is the Hawa Mahal of unusual architecture, standing away from the main complex.
To explore the magnificent City Palace and the beautiful city, just plan your vacations to Jaipur and rediscover the Royalty and grandeur hidden in the depth of its heritage.

inRoyal heritage Haveli is a distinctly designed and restored haveli to capture a different mood and period. It offers 9 rooms, all stunningly restored suites, which were the chambers of the former Maharaja. No two rooms are same in size, colour and interiors. Use of rich fabrics and silk drapes draw from the colourful art and warm hues of the state of Rajasthan.
The guests find themselves quickly immersed in the beauty of this refined and thoughtfully restored palace. Each richly renovated room has opulent interiors with unique themes. However one thing that steals the attention in rooms is impressive blue pottery tiles.
However one thing that steals the attention in rooms is impressive blue pottery tiles. All the bathrooms are done with handmade Jaipur Blue Pottery with the same theme as was used & done earlier, but keeping in mind the basic comforts, which is a must.
Blue pottery is another traditional pottery art which has flourished globally with enormous potential. Blue pottery though Turko-Persian in origin is widely recognized as a traditional craft of Jaipur. Legend has it that blue pottery came to Jaipur in the early 19th century when Sawai Ram Singhji II (1835 – 1880) set up a school of Art and encouraged artists and craftsmen from all over the country to come and settle here in Jaipur – a tradition started by his fore-fathers. Blue Pottery is based on ground quartz. The dough is pressed into moulds and the unfired pieces are hand painted with oxide colors, dipped in clear glaze and fired once in wooden kilns. The process is very tedious and time consuming. Not only did it require time and patience but also money.
The Royal heritage Haveli enchants everyone with its intrinsic blue pottery and royal ambiance that still floats in the air. Enjoy a vacation from the mundane with the exceptional hospitality, perfected over generations at Royal Heritage Haveli. Our home and our heart are open to you!

inPopularly known as Pink City, now Jaipur will be recognized by one more name worldwide. Having joined Unesco’s Creative Cities Network, as the first city in the country, it will choose a name from a set criteria by Unesco to suit its field of excellence and be known by it across the globe. The fields of excellence are classified into categories of literature, film, music, craft and folk art, design, media arts and gastronomy.
As Jaipur has rich craft and architectural designs, the officials have come up with names like Unesco Design City or Craft City for Jaipur. Gastronomy has also been kept as the third option as Jaipur is even famous for great food and many good places to eat.
Once Jaipur joins the Creative Cities Network it will be known with the name designated by Unesco among the member cities. Also, other countries will know us with the same name. It will also give chance to local artists to visit other countries that are a part of this network.
Any guesses! Which of the above names suit the Jaipur most!!
